About Abi

I graduated with honours from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2019, where I was awarded both the Wilfred Hambleton Chamber Music Prize and the Trinity Laban Flute Prize. Following this, I completed my master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany, further refining my performance and teaching skills.

I have a broad range of performance experience, from solo recitals to orchestral work. Most notably, I currently work with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and have performed in venues across the UK and Europe — from concert halls to local churches — both as a soloist and ensemble player.

With my experience, passion for music, and in-depth knowledge of the flute and its repertoire, I aim to inspire and support flautists of all ages and levels on their musical journey.

About the lesson

Lessons are available for all ages and abilities, and can be tailored to suit your goals — whether you’re working towards ABRSM/Trinity College London exams or simply want to play for fun!

I offer flute, piccolo, and music theory lessons, with a flexible and encouraging approach. For beginners, I recommend 30-minute lessons to build solid foundations at a comfortable pace. For more advanced students, 45–60 minutes allows us to explore technique, tone, and repertoire in greater depth.

I believe the first few years of learning an instrument are essential for developing good technique and confidence — both of which are at the heart of my teaching.

My aim is to create a positive, motivating environment where each student can grow and enjoy their musical journey. Lessons are engaging, structured, and personalised to each student. Whether you're just starting out or returning to playing after a break, I’ll help you feel confident and inspired every step of the way.

Perfect! Abi is a an excellent tutor, clear in her advice and recommendations to help me improve. She is also patient and kind which really helps build confidence. And importantly she is effective and efficient - and does what she says she will! Highly recommend.

Abi has taken some time away from the flute but has just started back wanting to work towards her grade 5! It was a lovely first lesson, Abi does well in the top octave and shows lots of potential. I look forward to seeing her progress and completing grade 5

Perfect! Abi is an awesome teacher! My son is easily distracted in lessons, but Abi is really patient with him and uses different teaching methods to engage him throughout the whole lesson. My son really enjoys his lessons - and often tells me this.

Gabriel is working towards his grade 1 exam! I have been helping Gabriel with his scales and pieces, helping him gain lots of confidence along with tips for sight reading! We have also been working on his aural skills! Over the next week, Gabriel needs to practice playing his scales by memory every day to ensure he is as confident as possible in the exam!
Gabriel is very enthusiastic about playing the flute and he is a pleasure to teach, I wish him all the best in his exam !
