About Isabel
Hi! I'm a friendly, patient and enthusiastic English and History tutor with a genuine passion for education and helping young people achieve their full potential.
I hold a First-Class Honours degree in History and Politics, a Master's degree in Modern History and an A-Level in English Literature. I also achieved two A grades in GCSE English Language and Literature. Alongside my academic qualifications, I have a year's experience working as a private GCSE English tutor.
My passion for tutoring comes from my belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their starting point or individual learning needs.
Having received SENCO support myself during my education, I understand first-hand that traditional teaching methods do not always work for everyone. This experience has shaped my approach to education and given me a genuine appreciation for the importance of patience, understanding and adapting teaching to suit each individual.
I believe my own educational journey demonstrates that needing additional support does not limit someone's academic potential. Having gone on to achieve a First-Class degree and a Master's qualification, I am particularly passionate about helping students recognise their own abilities, overcome challenges and develop confidence in themselves.
I want to tutor because I find it incredibly rewarding to help students understand something they previously found difficult, improve their skills and begin to enjoy subjects they may once have struggled with.
I aim to be approachable, encouraging and supportive, creating an environment where students never feel embarrassed to ask questions or make mistakes.
Ultimately, I want my students to leave lessons not only with stronger academic skills, but also with greater self-belief and a more positive attitude towards learning.

I believe that every student has the potential to succeed with the right support, encouragement and teaching approach. My lessons are friendly, engaging and tailored to each student's individual needs, abilities and learning goals.
With a First-Class Honours degree in History and Politics, a Master's degree in Modern History, and a year's experience as a private GCSE English tutor, I bring both strong academic knowledge and practical tutoring experience to my lessons.
Having received SENCO support myself during my education, I have a personal understanding of diverse learning needs and the importance of an inclusive, patient and adaptable teaching approach.** This experience has given me a particular appreciation of the challenges some students may face in traditional learning environments. I recognise that every student learns differently, and I aim to adapt my teaching methods to suit their individual strengths, needs and learning styles, helping them feel understood, supported and confident in their abilities.
For English, I focus on developing students' reading comprehension, analytical skills, essay writing and understanding of literary texts. I also help students improve their exam technique, structure their answers effectively and approach challenging questions with confidence.
For History, I focus on building strong subject knowledge alongside essential skills such as source analysis, critical thinking, constructing arguments and writing well-structured essays.
My lessons can include working through past papers, practising exam-style questions, breaking down difficult topics into manageable steps and providing constructive feedback to help students understand where they can improve.
Above all, I aim to create a relaxed, inclusive and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and learning at their own pace. Whether a student requires additional learning support, is preparing for their GCSEs or is aiming to achieve the highest grades, I adapt my teaching to help them make meaningful progress and grow in confidence.
My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to develop their confidence, independence and enjoyment of learning
