About Heather
Hi! My name is Heather and I’m an English tutor with a First Class degree in English Literature and 6 years' teaching experience. I have taught students from age 5-18, with proven success in helping students prepare for their SATs, 11+ entrance exams and GCSEs. I have also supported students who were applying for university (offering assistance with their personal statements).
I have been teaching online for the last 3 years (7000+ sessions), so I am very comfortable with this format. I also offer in person tuition at my home and I have experience supporting students with special educational needs (including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia).

I believe that learning should be fun and tailored to the student. I personalise all my lessons to each student’s individual interests and needs. For some of my students, this means structured classes with reading comprehension, creative writing practice and games. For others, it means mock tests or grammar/ essay writing practice, whilst some learners prefer more flexible and relaxed sessions. Once I understand what my student’s goals and needs are, I plan my lessons around them. I am kind and patient and my students often comment about how much they enjoy our sessions and how comfortable they feel with me as their tutor.
