About Etienne

I graduated in Political Economy from the University of Warwick in the UK and I am now resuming my studies here in Australia at Monash. I can speak 5 languages and so I know exactly how complex it is to absorb what you have been taught. I have grasped all the essential steps required to ensure that you will retain knowledge and will be able to actually put into practise what you have been taught. I gained my teaching experience by volunteering and teaching English to Syrian refugees in the UK. It was not easy because they could barely speak the language but I yielded great results and it allowed me to perfect my teaching methods. Today, I would be glad to support you in learning my native language.

About the lesson

First, I would need to have a conversation with you so to understand what are your needs and how I could cater to them. My teaching method is based on my own experience. What matters the most when learning a language is to grasp its mechanisms and how it is structured because from then on, you can learn vocabulary and by applying the language's mechanisms you will be able to form your own sentences with much ease. If you are a complete beginner, you have go through writing and reading because it will be easier for you to absorb that knowledge. Hearing words that make no sense to you won't help you at first. Listening and Speaking are the other crucial aspects in learning a language so I will recommend you some French music some movies and we will also have conversations about specific situations. I will design exercises in all the crucial phases of language learning (Writing/Reading/Listening/Speaking) that will take into account your level, your personal preferences and I will make sure to add some aspects of the French culture, history, politics so that not only will you learn the language but you will also become more knowledgeable.
