About Cassandra

Originally from Montreal, I am a bilingual educator and have been a French Immersion classroom teacher in Toronto for the last 5 years. I have mainly taught Grades 1-3 in that time, as well as students with Developmental Disabilities. I also have over 10 years of experience tutoring children, teens, and adults in a variety of subjects, including reading, speaking, math, and college exam prep. My priority is always to help my students find their love of learning and to feel safe taking intellectual risks, as that is where deep learning occurs.

About the lesson

I have worked with students ranging from 5 to 21 in a variety of subject areas. I have training in various early literacy intervention programs and have a roster of tools to pick from when targeting specific areas of need in reading and writing. I know that students learn best when they are having fun and feel heard, so I focus on what they enjoy doing and how to incorporate that into my lessons. Using diagnostic assessments, I determine where the gaps in their learning are and start with what they are able to do. I love teaching and finding creative ways to bridge those gaps.
