About Sophie

I'm university student born in England to a French mum and half German dad. I did both at GCSE and A Level (A* and A), although I didn't grow up speaking any German so I learnt that myself and in school. I truly love learning languages and I've tried others too, like Norweigan and Russian for the fun of it. I am TEFL qualified and have also taught English in French and German primary schools as well as my own English sixth form. As a result I believe I understand the process of learning languages well, but also learning languages in a way that specifically gets results in exams. All throughout sixth form I had several tutees, and so I'm confident in my ability to adapt to your level, needs and weaknesses as a student!

About the lesson

I'll personalise the sessions to your weakest areas, what you want to work on and what you're studying for, e.g., specific exam curriculams. We can switch up the materials and get a grip of the grammar through actual French. If studying for exams, I'll use material specifically for your exam board in order to stay focused on the exam material and maximise results. As far as speaking goes, I know conversing can be scary, so we can start simple with reading aloud for confidence :) It's important to feel comfortable so you can make mistakes and learn!

However Sophie explains things clearly, concisely in a methodical manner that has help ed me begin to grasp the French language. I can only recommend Sophie as a tutor. She is bilingual, meaning English as well as French are her native languages. Generally, she has a big talent for languages, loves to study and teach them. Sophie was my French tutor at school for 2 years! She never made me feel silly or bad for asking questions or not understanding something, which helped me make so much progress because sometimes in embarrassing asking lots of questions in class. I ended up getting grade 8 nearly 9 and I would have gotten much lower without her. Thank you so much Sophie!!
