About Hannes

I studied film music at the renowned Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, B.Mus in composition at the ArtEZ Hochschule in Arnhem, and jazz piano at the International Music College in Freiburg.

I work as a freelance composer for various film projects. My compositions and orchestrations are recorded by professional orchestras such as the Babelsberg Film Orchestra or the Budapest Scoring Orchestra. Films with my music have been screened at international film festivals, as well as on German/French television in the main program. The film music for the documentary film "Dear Future Children" won the prize for the best film music at the NaturVision Film Festival 2021.

I love my job and I really enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. It's not just about technical and music-theoretical knowledge, but also everything around it. I like to share my good and bad experiences that I have gathered over the years. From my choice of musical education to the first major paid project, I am an open book and can perhaps also take away one or the other concern or ambiguity.

About the lesson

I offer online composition lessons for everyone! With or without musical experience, study-related or self-taught, I adapt flexibly to my students. I myself am a film composer and am currently writing music for feature films, documentaries and advertisement productions. I am very happy to be able to share my experience with you, that I have gained over the past few years.

You can decide what the focus of my lessons is. Some people would like to write music like John Williams, then you can't get over learning more about classical orchestration. Others might want to write music like in the Stranger Things series - then learning about synths helps. My field of work is very diverse and we can find out in a trial lesson what we can work on together and what your individual goals are for the lesson.

Some possible content for the lesson is:
- Feedback sessions on own works
- Orchestration and music notation
- Harmony (jazz, classical or film music specific)
- Film music dramaturgy
- Clarify technical questions (PC specs, software, sample libraries, etc.)
- music mixing
