About Arabella
I built a career playing guitar on tour and in recording sessions long before teaching ever crossed my mind, and that hands-on, sometimes chaotic background still shapes every single lesson I run today. Fifteen years into teaching, I've worked with around four hundred eighty students, most drawn to me specifically because they want real, usable playing skills rather than purely academic, note-perfect training. I never went the formal conservatory route, and I say that upfront, because my genuine strength lies in real stage and studio experience rather than theoretical polish alone. I work particularly well with students who want to join bands, write their own music, or eventually gig themselves, since that's exactly the world I spent years actually living in. My teaching style is direct, occasionally blunt, shaped by real deadlines and real pressure rather than an unhurried academic pace most guitar teachers offer. I've seen plenty of technically gifted players struggle the second they're handed a chart with no warning, so genuine readiness gets serious focus throughout my studio. Students who've trained with me are out there in real bands holding their own, which matters more to me than any certificate ever could.

I spent years touring and recording as a guitarist before I ever taught a single lesson, so my teaching skips a lot of the polite formality and dives straight into skills you'd genuinely use in a band. Chords and strumming come first, built for real songs, because gigging guitarists live and die by solid rhythm playing far more than flashy solos alone. I teach students to actually lock in with a rhythm section using backing tracks from the very first lessons, since playing completely alone never once prepared me for playing in an actual band. Reading chord charts and simple tab gets genuine focus, since that's what lands in front of you at a real session, not fully notated sheet music. Improvisation and soloing get introduced early once rhythm is solid, because I've watched too many technically decent players freeze the second nobody hands them an exact part to play. Technique, including fretting hand accuracy and tone control, still gets real attention, but it's always tied back to actual playable music rather than abstract drills alone. I'm direct about what genuinely works on stage or in a studio, because I've lived both plenty of times myself. My goal is simple: get you playing confidently alongside real musicians, fast.
