About Michael

Expert simulation specialist with wide range of knowledge in several engineering disciplines including mechanical design and engineering, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural design, non-linear material response/failure, and fatigue analysis. Previously I worked for SolidWorks under a VAR and as an engineering consultant. In all my positions I have tutored young engineers and students. I have also volunteered with FIRST Robotics.

About the lesson

A hands on approach is best for students learning CAD and FEA. I will set you or your student up with demonstration pieces that they can play with and learn at their own pace while giving as much instruction as they need.

For CAD, typical lesson plans involve:
1. Basic interface
2. Making 2D Sketches
3. Making 3D Solids
4.Troubleshooting techniques
5. Assemblies
6. Advanced modeling (Surfacing and Parametric)
7. Drawings
8. Advanced CAD and Assemblies.

For FEA, typical lesson plans involve:

2. Making FEA models from CAD Models
3. Creating FEA studies
4. Running studies and post processing
5. Materials
6. Making FEA models in the program
7. Meshing techniques
8. Troubleshooting
9. Advanced FEA processes

Perfect! Michael tutored me in SolidWorks for my biomedical engineering class at San José State. He explained things in a clear and steady way, which helped me understand the steps better. I liked that he focused on the basics first and made sure I knew how to build the features correctly instead of just copying.

Michael and I worked together in a computational structural analysis branch in which he was both an analyst (mostly Abaqus) and a designer (both Creo and SolidWorks). We collaborated on several projects as well as mentoring each other in theory and concepts. Michael is a natural at inquisitiveness and is always in the mode of helping, instructing, and learning. Both of us were in the mode of pushing the knowledge base and verifying the 'this is how is done' recommendations with actual data and results. His deep dive and pursuit of validation of all things with respect to analysis and design is not typical. I recommend Michael because not only does he know and understand that which he is discussing he has always been a natural instructor to others in the group in which we worked.
