About Alvaro

I started playing tennis at the age of 8 and quickly showed good skills. Little by little, with work, I improved until at the age of 10 I was already playing national tournaments against children 2 years older than me. The more I played, the more I wanted to play and being a professional tennis player became a dream. At the age of 12 I was lucky enough to be European champion with the Spanish national team and among other titles, the following stand out: Champion of the Nike Junior Tour circuit, individual Spanish runner-up, Spanish team champion, individual European runner-up and Nike international master's semi-finalist. in Punta Cana, where I was able to defeat players like Alexander Zverev (current number 2 in the ATP). The following years I continued training under the guidance of Juan Carlos Ferrero until, at the age of 16, I decided that I needed a break. At 18 I went to the United States to study and play in the university league and there I was named 4 years in a row in the ideal team of the conference, best player of the year and I was lucky enough to play the national masters in Malibu, where the 32 best players from the country compete each year.

I have been privileged to have played against players like Zverev, Rublev, De Minaur, Shapovalov, Jaume Munar, Pedro Martinez and a long list of current top 100 ATP players.

I love to have fun on the court and I always try to combine exercises of high concentration and dedication with more relaxed ones in order to combine two key aspects of tennis: sacrifice and fun.

About the lesson

I am Álvaro Verdú, and throughout my life I have been chasing a dream that was none other than to be a professional tennis player. Although I couldn't make it, I was lucky enough to travel the world, meet amazing people and have unique experiences in the world of tennis. Now, after living the last 5 years in the USA (where I played in the university league), I find myself in Madrid wanting to contribute my grain of sand to the world of tennis, which has given me so much.

I have demonstrable experience teaching classes and I have the experience, technique and methods that I was able to learn first hand after training with coaches such as Juan Carlos Ferrero (former number 1 in the world), Toni Cascales and Samuel Lopez.

My classes can be aimed at children / beginner adults who want to acquire the basic technique necessary to maintain a rally, and to players who are looking for a top level sparring.

Depending on your level, I will design a personalised training plan (it can also be combined with physical training) to achieve the objectives that YOU set for yourself.

Tennis is a wonderful sport, which with desire, effort and dedication, can bring you unique values such as sacrifice, overcoming oneself and above all, perseverance and daily struggle to improve. All this can be extrapolated to life itself.
