About Sydney
I’m a former president and instructor of Salsa at Cal and began teaching salsa and bachata in 2019. I’ve been a part of several performance teams in California and New York and had the great opportunity to perform at TEDxBerkeley. While I now primarily dance Cuban salsa, I also dance LA style on 1, New York style on 2, bachata tradicional and sensual, and merengue. I’m a lifelong learner and still attend classes and workshops to grow my own skills!

I teach both solo steps and partner work for salsa and bachata, but also focus on foundations of rhythm and musicality. I believe any Latin dance starts with an understanding of rhythm, so I teach students how to listen to music and follow a beat. This understanding can later translate to a student’s own style and musicality.
