Hi, I’m Gracie! I’m an experienced teacher and tutor who loves building strong connections with my students. I’ve been a 5th grade school teacher for 2.5 years and previously tutored K-12 English Language Learners in math, reading, science, and history for 4 years. What sets me apart is my relational approach — I take time to understand each student’s personality, strengths, and challenges so they feel supported and encouraged. My goal is to create a learning environment that feels safe, motivating, and even fun, while helping students grow in confidence and skills. I understand the trust families place in a tutor, and I take that responsibility seriously. My Approach as a Tutor: As a tutor, I believe in meeting students where they are and building lessons that are engaging, supportive, and tailored to their learning style. My goal is to not only help students understand the material but also gain confidence in their own abilities. I also want my students to feel cared for and that they can trust in me as their tutor. Teaching Method & Techniques: I use a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, and interactive activities to make lessons meaningful. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps and use real-world examples to help students connect learning to their lives. For ELL students, I also integrate language support strategies that strengthen both subject knowledge and English skills at the same time. Typical Lesson Plan: A typical session begins with a quick review of prior concepts to check understanding. Then, I introduce the new topic in a clear, structured way, followed by guided practice and activities tailored to the student’s needs. I end each lesson with a short reflection or summary so the student leaves feeling confident and knowing exactly what to practice next. What Sets Me Apart: I’ve been an elementary school teacher for 2.5 years and have 4 years of experience tutoring K-12 English Language Learners in math, science, history, and language arts. This combination allows me to adapt lessons for a wide range of ages and learning styles, while also bringing the patience, creativity, and structure of a classroom teacher to one-on-one sessions.
