About Jocelyn
I have 13 years of teaching experience and hold a PhD in Piano Performance. My advanced studies strengthened my understanding of technique development, interpretation, and performance psychology. However, teaching students of different ages has taught me that clear communication and patience are equally important.
I have worked with beginners building their first skills and advanced students preparing for major recitals. I believe strong fundamentals create long-term success. My teaching approach combines discipline with encouragement, ensuring that students feel supported while being challenged to grow. I carefully monitor progress and adjust lessons to suit individual needs.
Music has shaped my life in many meaningful ways. Helping students discover confidence at the piano and express themselves with clarity brings me deep satisfaction. I am dedicated to guiding each learner with structure, care, and commitment to excellence.

My piano lessons are designed to build deep technical control while helping students understand the meaning behind the music they play. I begin by checking posture, bench height, and hand alignment to ensure comfort and prevent tension. Early sessions include finger independence exercises, slow scale practice, and rhythm counting methods that create strong coordination between both hands. I explain every concept clearly and allow students enough time to absorb each step before moving forward.
As learners progress, we work on arpeggios, chord voicing, dynamic contrast, and pedal control. I guide students through careful score reading so they understand phrasing, articulation, and musical direction. Repertoire is chosen according to the student’s level but always includes pieces that challenge technique and expression equally. I also include sight reading practice to improve confidence when approaching new music.
Performance preparation is handled with patience and structure. Students learn memorisation techniques, focus exercises, and stage awareness skills. Over time, they gain stronger finger control, improved tonal balance, and deeper musical interpretation. My goal is to guide each student towards confident and mature piano performance.
