About Rubén
I graduated in Classical Music Performance at the Conservatorio Superior de Valencia in 2024 and am currently continuing my studies in Pedagogy there, while also pursuing a Master's in Music Research at VIU.
I balance this with teaching and performing in various professional and amateur bands and orchestras, as well as other ensembles (including Latin American folk music, for example!).
Although my training was primarily focused on classical music, I also enjoy contemporary music and jazz. I have less experience in these genres, but I try to incorporate them into my lessons whenever possible to provide broader perspectives.

Hello! I'm Rubén, a graduate in Classical Music Performance from the Conservatorio Superior de Valencia. In my lessons, I adapt to your level and needs, whether it's your first day or you're preparing for entrance exams to the conservatory. We'll always work to bring out the best in you.
I believe that the fundamental pillar of playing an instrument well is technique—you mastering the instrument, not the other way around. That's why we'll dedicate the first part of each lesson to making the flute sound exactly how you want it to and overcoming challenges in articulation and mechanics. Extended techniques are our friends! Singing and playing simultaneously, flutter tonguing, or whistle tones are common in this section.
And what comes next? The music. You choose (with my guidance!) what you want to play, and throughout the lessons, we'll explore it to the fullest. The goal is for you to enjoy what you play. I believe your favorite version of a piece should always be your own. To achieve this, we'll apply everything we've learned in the technical exercises and design new ones to overcome any difficulties that arise.
Simply playing the notes isn't enough! We need to be "creative" and understand what's happening in the score to bring our personality into the performance.
We can use existing methods or explore the music you love. The important thing is that you feel comfortable with the music and the instrument—I'll take care of the rest.

Rubén es un gran profesor por su amplio conocimiento en diferentes ramas de la teoría musical, su proximidad y afán por no dejar de aprender.
Además de ser un musicazo y muy buena persona.Rubén es una persona muy profesional y trabajadora y siempre se muestra muy comprometido con sus alumnos y su aprendizaje. Tiene una sólida base en los fundamentos de la música, tanto en teoría básica como en asignaturas más complejas como son historia de la música.
