About Kayla
I started playing the flute at ten where I discovered my passion in music. I am now 21 and continue to study at the Levine School Of Music in Washington. D.C. where I have participated in 20+ shows, group student events and showcases. I am a part of a specialized program called Suzuki where we are taught to memorize the sheet music, and play by ear. I also have mastered in sheet music. I have 4+ years working with children but am open to teaching adults. I am personal, professional, and very friendly. I am not perfect. My love for the instrument, my program and the music allows me to be a good teacher. I enjoy finding unique ways to teach the flute. The more you listen to the music the easier it becomes. I had a CD with all my flute music and my mom would play it while I spent time at home as a kid. I picked up on the music much easier. I love conversation but I do understand how to progress a lesson. I like to make it fun. My lessons will be slightly different in the best way, they will be memorable and make an impact. You can continue to use the tips and tricks years from now.

We will start by learning more about you, and your learning style. We will continue to fingering, how to hold the flute, clean your instrument, adjust it to your body and learning to blow correctly. If you are slightly more experienced, I am open to adjusting lessons. Learning each note is important and must be mastered before we move on to finding the right book. I will instruct you to practice on your own after the lesson and give a brief summary on what is expected next lesson. You should be able to dedicate at least 30 minutes a day to practice. Before each lesson make sure you have your music stand, your camera set up with view of your fingers and mouth. And most important your notebook to take notes as we move throughout the lesson.
