About Eileen
I am a 2020 Oxford graduate from Ireland. At Leaving Certificate, I achieved the highest grade, equivalent to an A*, in Irish. At Oxford, I specialised in Criminal Law, where I engaged in comparative analysis of Irish and English legal systems. I have mentored and tutored students from ages 10 to 21 in beginner's or intermediate Irish, from conversational to Leaving Certificate level.

I prefer to teach according to what the student wishes to learn and believe that language learning ought to be tailored to its intended use. Therefore, with a student who wants to learn conversational Irish, I will focus on practising everyday use of language with a degree of spontaneity that will allow them to "learn from doing". With a student preparing for an exam, I prefer to focus on perfecting problematic elements of the curriculum, such as essay writing and grammar questions. However, I am happy to adapt to suit the needs of any pupil. Please message me with any queries or questions!
DIALECT: we will mostly be learning an Caighdeán Oifigiúil, the Official Irish Standard which is standardised and used in exams. I am from Co Mayo, with good knowledge of dialectal differences occurring in Munster and Donegal Irish also, for purposes of aural exams.
