About Dimos

Outside of academics, my professional but personable nature is reflected in my working and extracurricular experiences. My internship at Barclays last summer allowed me to gain hands-on experience in finance, accounting, and quantitative analysis, enhancing my ability to connect theoretical concepts to real-world applications. In addition, my involvement with the UCL Economics and Finance Society and the UCL Consulting Society has further refined my skills in organising high-impact academic events, collaborating with industry leaders like McKinsey and BCG, and applying economic and financial insights to practical scenarios. I also hold expertise in advanced financial and data analysis tools, such as Python, Stata, Excel, and Databricks, which I incorporate into my lessons to ensure a relevant and practical learning experience.

As to my personal life, I have a variety of hobbies and interests that keep me energised and inspired. I’m a Boxing Fight Night Champion, which has taught me discipline and resilience, qualities I bring into all areas of my life including teaching. I enjoy running to stay active and clear my mind, and I’ve recently developed a passion for salsa dancing, which I find both exhilarating and a great way to connect with others. I also love city-seeing and travelling, and one of my favourite things to do is put together detailed itineraries to explore new places efficiently and experience their unique cultures.

About the lesson

Nice to meet you, I'm Dimos! I am a first-class BSc Economics student at UCL, ranked in the top 3% of my cohort. My academic journey has been distinguished by exceptional achievements, including A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Economics at A-Level, as well as outstanding university grades in Development Economics (89%), Econometrics (79%), and Macroeconomics (77%). With almost 5 years of teaching experience, both through private sessions and agencies, I have successfully helped students achieve top grades and secure placements at leading universities.

My Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy centers on offering an impactful yet enjoyable teaching approach that inspires students to excel. I aim to foster a deep understanding of core concepts while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. I employ interactive methods, including guided practice, real-world applications, and structured feedback, to make lessons engaging and effective. I also integrate modern tools, such as digital resources and visual aids, to cater to different learning styles and make complex concepts more accessible. My approach is highly adaptable, ensuring that each student’s unique needs, strengths, and goals are addressed.

Lesson Structure

Lessons typically last 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student’s requirements and the complexity of the material being covered. This duration allows for a balanced mix of concept teaching, practical exercises, and review. Each lesson begins with a brief recap of previous material to solidify understanding, followed by introducing new concepts and working through examples together. We conclude with a summary and tailored assignments or revision plans to reinforce learning between sessions.

Who My Lessons Are For

My lessons are suitable for any student from GCSE level and below to Undergraduate Level. I cater to students of all abilities, whether they are seeking to excel in competitive exams, prepare for university applications or achieve First-Class in their degree.
