About Mark

My name is Mark Porter and I teach A-Level and BTEC Business Levels 2 and 3 for a 6th Form College in the South of England.

Prior to teaching I worked for a number of global businesses in a variety of roles in Financial Services for the last 20 years. This has given me a wealth of industry-relevant experience to help bring the subject to life for students.

Gaining your BTEC qualification is all about 3 steps.
1. understanding the content,
2. being able to apply it to real or fictional businesses
3. Knowing what the examiner / assessor is looking for in your answer - so this is broadly how I structure my teaching.

Gaining your A-Level qualification is all about 2 things:
1. The most important factor is exam technique (believe it or not, this is more important than knowing the content!)
2. Know the content!

With A-Level Business, you will lose more marks if you know the content but don't use the correct exam exam technique than you will if you know the technique but not the content. I'll help you with both.

About the lesson

Lessons are 1 hour 1.5 or 2 hours and will be structured in a way that works best for you.

Together we'll identify the topics that need to be covered and then I'll help you understand the topic, apply it to real businesses and, importantly, develop your writing skills to pass your assignments and exams.

Getting top marks and grades is all about what you write so that you convince the examiner that you know your stuff!

I teach BTEC Business at Levels 2 and 3 and A-Level at a New Forest 6th Form College. I have 20 years of Financial Services experience to help bring the subjects to life.
