About Precious

I’m Precious, 23 years old, fresh from college, and extremely excited about finally interviewing for my first real teaching job. I love being around students and feel a big responsibility as someone who’s supposed to be not only a skilled teacher but also a good role model for their pupils. My favourite subjects to teach are Financial Accounting and Economics, but I do not particularly dislike teaching any subject–they are all important after all. In my free time, I enjoy coding and having a discussion with like-minded people about anything related to elementary teaching.

About the lesson

Cultivate an academic environment in your classroom by setting high, but not impossible, expectations for your students. Push students to achieve higher standards and they will eventually get there—and along the way, offer lots of praise. Some may take more time than others, but all students want to be told, "You're smart and you're doing a good job." Give high school students college material to read and tell them, "This story/book/math concept is taught in first-year colleges around the country." Once the students tackle and master the material, tell them, "Good job students—I knew you could do it."
