About Thomas
I'm a fourth year BA Language and Culture student studying at University College London. During my four years as a UCL student, I have gained experience in a wide variety of disciplines, including Film Studies, Latin American Studies, Cultural Studies and Art History. Although each of these disciplines have their own methodologies and approaches, essay writing is an essential skill needed for a wide range of humanities-based subjects. As a result, I believe that developing and refining essay writing skills is a crucial part of achieving academic success.
In my spare time, I enjoy a wide variety of activities. During two of my four years of at UCL, I was Music Editor of the university's largest arts and culture journal, SAVAGE, where I honed my writing and editing skills. In addition, I have pursued my passion for contemporary art by interning at various art galleries, both in London and my native Brazil. As a result of these experiences, I have also had the chance to work at art fairs in Brazil, Spain and Switzerland. In addition, I have a deep passion for the Spanish language and spent a year studying at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona developing my skills in the language as part of my Year Abroad.

Being dyspraxic, I know the importance of tailoring to individual learning needs and study habits. I will work to adapt my tutoring sessions according to the student's preferred learning styles.
I will encourage students to have their own thoughts about given a topic, while at the same time ensuring these are firmly grounded in theoretical and conceptual frameworks.
Most of all, I hope to make tutoring sessions enjoyable and engaging, which, for me, involves a great deal of collaboration and discussion.
