About Tshiamo

My name is Tshiamo Makuwa and I am a third-year Bachelor of Medical Science student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I have a strong academic background in biochemistry, anatomy, physiology and recombinant DNA, and I am passionate about helping others understand complex scientific concepts in a simple and engaging way. I chose to tutor because I genuinely enjoy teaching and empowering students to reach their full potential. Throughout my academic journey, I have seen how challenging certain subjects can be, and I believe that with the right support and guidance, every student can excel. Tutoring allows me to share my knowledge, build confidence in learners, and help them develop effective study strategies that will benefit them in the long run. Beyond academics, tutoring is also a way for me to give back by creating a positive learning environment where students feel encouraged, supported, and motivated. Seeing a student grasp a difficult concept, improve their grades, or gain confidence in their abilities is what makes tutoring so rewarding for me. I am excited about the opportunity to make a difference in students’ academic journeys and help them achieve success!

Encouraging Critical Thinking – I don't just help students memorize information; I teach them how to think critically and apply knowledge, which is crucial for academic success. Supportive & Motivational Teaching Style – I create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. Exam & Study Strategies – I provide exam techniques, time management tips, and study plans to help students perform at their best in assessments. By focusing on engagement, clarity, and personalized support, my lessons go beyond traditional tutoring and truly help students understand, apply, and enjoy their subjects.
