About Gustavo
I am a FIDE Master with over 15 years of experience teaching and playing chess. I have worked with kids and adults at different levels, from beginners to advanced players. I currently work as a coach for the Magnus Carlsen Academy, following professional training methods. I prepare my lessons carefully and adapt them to each student’s level and goals. I am punctual, respectful, and committed to helping my students improve and enjoy chess in a positive and supportive learning environment.

My teaching approach is student-centered and adapted to each learner’s age, level, and goals. I focus on building strong fundamentals while keeping lessons engaging and motivating, especially for kids.
I use a structured methodology that combines strategy, tactics, calculation, endgames, and game analysis. Lessons often include interactive exercises, practical examples from real games, and guided problem-solving to develop critical thinking and decision-making skills. For competitive students, I also work on tournament preparation, mindset, and time management.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although shorter or longer sessions can be arranged depending on the student’s needs and age.
I am a FIDE Master with over 15 years of teaching and playing experience, and I currently work as a coach for the Magnus Carlsen Academy. I have experience teaching both recreational and competitive players.
My lessons are designed for kids and adults, from complete beginners to advanced and tournament-level players, whether they want to learn chess for fun, improve their rating, or compete seriously.
