About Jasmine

I am a college fashion professor, professional fashion designer, technical designer, product developer, fit specialist, and fashion-business owner with approximately 20 years of combined sewing, design, and industry-related experience. I currently teach fashion design at Pasadena City College and Chaffey College. My teaching experience includes beginning and advanced garment construction, pattern drafting, draping, fashion fundamentals, technical design, and computer-aided patternmaking. Before becoming an adjunct professor, I spent four years as a Fashion Program Instructional Assistant, helping college students develop their technical skills during classes and laboratory hours. I hold a BFA in Fashion Product Development from the Academy of Art University and associate degrees in Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising from Chaffey College. I also have specialized training in industrial sewing, custom dressmaking, draping, fitting and alterations, and TUKAcad patternmaking software. As the founder of Jasmine Green Studio and TrIndiBlu Apparel, I have professional experience in custom apparel, alterations, garment development, technical design, sampling, and small production. My specialty is garment fit and understanding how clothing interacts with different bodies. I believe strong technique is the foundation of every successful design, and I teach students to understand not only how to complete a project but why each construction method works. I welcome teens and adults at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. Whether you want to learn sewing fundamentals, improve your construction, alter commercial patterns, develop original designs, or prepare for a fashion career, I will help you become a more skilled, knowledgeable, and confident creative.

About the lesson

Each lesson is personalized around your experience, goals, and current project. During our first meeting, we will discuss what you want to learn, review your experience and equipment, and create a realistic learning plan. Lessons may include: • Beginning through advanced sewing • Sewing-machine operation and troubleshooting • Commercial pattern reading • Garment construction and professional finishing • Pattern adjustments and pattern drafting • Fit, alterations, and garment corrections • Draping on the dress form • Couture and tailoring techniques • Fashion illustration and design development • Technical flats and product-development fundamentals • Portfolio or collection development You may follow a structured series of lessons or bring a specific garment, pattern, design idea, or technique you want help completing. I explain each process clearly, demonstrate the technique, and then guide you as you practice it yourself. Students receive professional instruction in a supportive environment without losing ownership of their creative vision. My goal is to help you sew with confidence, understand what you are doing, and eventually work more independently. Lessons are available for teens and adults at all skill levels. Younger students may be accepted depending on maturity, attention span, and the proposed project.
