About JAYASHAMANI
I'm a practicing medical doctor and Family Medicine Specialist with over 16 years of clinical experience and postgraduate qualifications in clinical dermatology. Having spent years teaching and supervising junior doctors, I know how to explain complex ideas with clarity and patience. I bring real medical knowledge to every Biology and Science lesson, helping students genuinely understand the human body rather than simply memorize it. My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student's goals — whether that's lifting a grade, mastering a difficult topic, or building toward a future in medicine or the health sciences.

I'm a practicing medical doctor and Family Medicine Specialist with over 16 years of clinical experience, now based in Christchurch. I tutor Biology and Science for high-school and first-year university students — and I'm especially glad to work with students who are dreaming of a career in medicine or the health sciences.
What I offer that no textbook can is the perspective of someone who has actually spent a career doing the medicine your syllabus describes. I teach biology, physiology, and how the body works through real clinical context, which makes concepts genuinely click rather than something to memorize and forget. Having spent years teaching and supervising junior doctors, I'm used to explaining complex ideas clearly and at the right pace for each student.
I start by finding out where you are and where you're stuck, then build lessons around your goals — lifting a grade, mastering a tough topic, or simply understanding the human body more deeply. Lessons are patient, structured, and tailored to you. And for any student considering medicine, I'm happy to share honest, first-hand insight into what the path and the profession are really like.
Lessons typically run 60 minutes, online, and I'm flexible around school timetables. Suitable for senior secondary students (NCEA Levels 1–3) and first-year university students in biology and health-science subjects.
