About Rachel
Rachel Warner is a Lecturer in Expository Writing at the University of Oklahoma. She earned her doctorate in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she studied intersecting histories of queer sexuality, gender variance, and racial formation across Anglo-American high modernism and the Harlem Renaissance. Her broader research interests include the history of sexuality, transgender studies, and the health humanities. Rachel has published scholarship on Black feminism, masculinity studies, and animal studies and has taught courses in English composition, queer literature, and the history of horror media. Rachel’s service work mainly focuses on issues surrounding mental health, harm reduction, and prison education. She has held leadership roles in professional development and student wellness organizations and maintains a community-centered pedagogy through different public humanities initiatives.
When she’s not at school, Rachel enjoys listening to records, making vegetarian meals, and loving on her two toy poodles, Leland and George.
