About James
Hello! I'm James, a passionate and experienced Business teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience in the UK and international schools. I specialise in helping students studying IB Business Management, IGCSE Business, GCSE Business and A Level Business achieve their academic goals while developing the confidence and critical thinking skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.
I hold a Master of Education (MEd) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and currently teach business management at a leading international school. Throughout my career, I have taught students from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities, supporting them to achieve excellent examination results and progress to leading universities around the world.
Alongside academic business, I also support learners in developing business English and professional communication skills. Whether you're preparing for presentations, interviews, university studies, workplace communication or improving your confidence discussing business concepts in English, I can help you build the vocabulary, fluency and communication skills needed to succeed in an international environment.
One of the greatest advantages I offer is my experience as an IB business management examiner. I understand exactly how assessment criteria are applied, the mistakes that commonly cost students marks, and what distinguishes good answers from outstanding ones. I also have extensive experience working with UK awarding organisations as an examiner, standards verifier and chief moderator, giving me a broad understanding of assessment and examination success.
My teaching philosophy is simple: every student can make excellent progress when they feel supported, challenged and encouraged to think for themselves. Rather than relying on memorisation, I help students understand business concepts deeply, apply theory to real-world situations and develop the analytical, evaluative and communication skills that examiners, universities and employers value.

About My Lessons
My lessons are designed to build confidence, deepen conceptual understanding and develop the critical thinking skills needed to succeed in examinations and beyond.
Every lesson is tailored to the individual student's goals, whether that's improving grades, preparing for final examinations, mastering difficult topics, or developing stronger exam technique. I use a combination of guided questioning, real business case studies, visual explanations, examiner-style practice questions and regular feedback to help students become independent, confident learners. As an IB Business Management examiner, I also provide valuable insight into how assessment criteria are applied and what examiners are looking for in high-scoring responses.
Lessons are interactive rather than lecture-based. Students are encouraged to explain their thinking, justify decisions and apply business theory to real-world examples, helping them develop analytical and evaluative skills alongside subject knowledge.
Lesson Length
60-minute lessons (recommended for weekly tuition)
90-minute lessons (ideal for examination preparation and intensive support)
Longer revision sessions can also be arranged before mock or final examinations.
Qualifications & Experience
I am a fully qualified teacher (MEd, PGCE, and QTS) with over 15 years' experience teaching business. I have taught students following the IB Diploma Programme, IGCSE, GCSE, A Level and vocational business qualifications (BTEC/NCFE) and currently teach business management in an international school.
Alongside classroom teaching, I am an experienced IB Business Management Examiner, giving me first-hand knowledge of assessment standards, common misconceptions and the techniques that help students maximise their marks. I have also worked as an examiner, standards verifier and chief moderator for a range of UK awarding organisations, giving me a broad understanding of assessment across multiple qualifications.

I also support students preparing for university applications where business is their chosen field of study.
All lessons are delivered online, allowing students from anywhere in the world to access high-quality, personalised tuition from an experienced international school teacher and examiner.
