About Claire

I became a teacher because I believe English is more than just a subject as it’s a way to unlock confidence, creativity, and critical thinking. Over the years, I’ve seen how the right support can transform a student’s outlook, helping them achieve exam success while also learning to enjoy the process. Parents and students can be confident that my lessons are well-structured, tailored, and supportive. Whether you are preparing for 11+, 13+, or GCSE, or just want to improve your skills, my goal is to help you feel capable, motivated, and ready to achieve your best.

About the lesson

I’m Claire, a qualified English teacher with over five years of experience helping online students succeed in 11+ and 13+ entrance exams. My approach is supportive but focused, combining clear strategies with engaging activities that build both skills and confidence. A typical lesson lasts around an hour and is broken into short, focused sections to keep students motivated. We might start with a quick warm-up to strengthen vocabulary, move into comprehension or essay practice, and finish with feedback and next steps. I use a wide range of resources, including past papers, model answers, and tailored activities, so that each student develops the exact skills they need. I understand that these exams can feel daunting. That’s why I place as much emphasis on confidence and resilience as I do on exam technique. My students know how to tackle questions under pressure, avoid common mistakes, and write with clarity and impact. My lessons are designed for KS2 and KS3 students preparing for 11+ or 13+ exams, whether they need extra support or are aiming for competitive schools. Many of my students have gone on to secure places at their first-choice schools, and I take pride in helping them achieve their best.
