About Emily

I’m an experienced and enthusiastic primary teacher with over 15 years’ experience, and I’m passionate about helping children feel confident and successful in their learning.

I particularly love teaching English and literacy, and reading is a real passion of mine. I believe that helping a child discover a love of reading can open up a whole world of imagination, knowledge and confidence, and I would love to share that enthusiasm with my students.

I am warm, patient and encouraging, and I take the time to get to know each child and understand how they learn best. Whether your child needs a little extra confidence, support with a particular area, or simply wants to be challenged, I will tailor lessons to their individual needs.

With extensive experience teaching Years 1–6, including Year 6 and SATs preparation, you can be confident that your child is receiving professional, experienced and nurturing support.

About the lesson

With over 15 years’ experience as a qualified primary teacher, I offer friendly, personalised tuition tailored to each child’s individual needs, strengths and learning style.

I begin by identifying what a child already understands and where they need support. I then break concepts into manageable steps, using clear explanations, modelling, questioning, guided practice and retrieval to develop understanding. I adapt my approach throughout the lesson and use plenty of encouragement to build confidence and independence.

Lessons are typically around 60 minutes, although I can divide this time into manageable, varied sections depending on the child’s age, concentration and needs. For example, a session could include shorter focused blocks of reading, writing and maths, or concentrate on one particular area where a child needs additional support.

I specialise in primary-aged children (approximately 5–11 years) across English and Mathematics, including KS2 and SATs preparation. I also have extensive experience delivering online teaching and targeted intervention.

My aim is to make every lesson engaging, purposeful and confidence-building, while helping each child make meaningful progress.
