About Dewald
Hello, my name is Dewald. I am a qualified BEd teacher and a permanently employed WCED educator with experience teaching Afrikaans and English in the classroom. My passion is helping learners develop confidence in Afrikaans and achieve their academic goals.
I specialise in Afrikaans and focus on making language learning simple, practical, and enjoyable. I understand that many learners find Afrikaans challenging, so I break concepts down into easy-to-understand steps and provide patient guidance throughout the learning process.
My lessons are tailored to each learner's individual needs, whether they require help with grammar, comprehension, writing, oral preparation, assignments, or exam preparation. I am proficient in both Afrikaans and English and can explain concepts in either language when necessary.
I am committed to creating a supportive learning environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and improving their results. I look forward to helping you succeed in Afrikaans.

My teaching approach is learner-centred, patient, and practical. I understand that every learner learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to suit each student's needs and learning style. I break difficult concepts into simple, manageable steps and use clear explanations, examples, and guided practice to ensure that learners truly understand the work before moving on.
I am proficient in both Afrikaans and English and can teach in either language, depending on the learner's preference and level of understanding. This allows me to support learners who may struggle with Afrikaans and need additional explanations in English.
A typical lesson includes a review of previous work, focused teaching of new concepts, guided practice, and opportunities for learners to ask questions. I also provide exam preparation, study techniques, language support, comprehension skills, writing guidance, and assistance with assignments and assessments.
My lessons are primarily aimed at primary and high school learners who want to improve their Afrikaans language skills, whether they are studying Afrikaans Home Language, First Additional Language, or Extra Additional Language. I also assist learners who need help with English language skills.
