About Poone
I’m Dr. Poone Yazdanpanah, a PhD-qualified designer, lecturer, and sustainability consultant. With over 20 years of teaching experience and more than 600 students mentored, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how to teach design thinking—from concept to critique. I teach because I care about helping students find clarity in complexity—whether in sketching, writing, or structuring ideas. My approach is inclusive, sustainability-focused, and tailored to support each learner’s unique strengths.

I'm a PhD-qualified university lecturer with over 20 years of experience teaching architecture, landscape design, sustainability, and critical thinking at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I specialise in helping students develop strong academic writing, research, sketching, and design thinking, particularly in areas related to environmental design, biophilic strategies, and socially responsive architecture. As the module leader for Research Methodology, my postgraduate students have consistently produced highly praised dissertations, with several shortlisted for the Student Dissertation Awards. External examiners have commended the work as some of the best they’ve reviewed. My teaching is rooted in a deep commitment to sustainability as a way of thinking, not just a goal. I support students who want to create meaningful, responsible design solutions that engage with real-world challenges, from climate resilience to inclusive urban spaces. I offer an inclusive and adaptable tutoring style, especially suited to neurodiverse learners (including students with autism), international students, and those needing structured, empathetic academic support. With a career spanning both academia and industry practice, I’ve mentored over 600 students.
