About Alex

I am academic staff at a leading UK university, holding a PhD in Economics and recognised as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). With more than 15 years of university teaching, research, and mentoring experience, I have supported students from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds.

Throughout my academic career, I have developed extensive experience in research methods, academic writing, quantitative analysis, econometrics, statistics, and working with research projects. I understand that completing a dissertation can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when students are faced with choosing a topic, developing a research question, reviewing a large body of literature, selecting an appropriate methodology, analysing data, and bringing everything together into a coherent piece of academic work.

My approach is patient, supportive, and highly personalised. I enjoy helping students break complex projects into manageable stages and, most importantly, understand the reasoning behind each step. My aim is not simply to help students complete a dissertation, but to help them become more confident and independent researchers.

I also enjoy supporting students and graduates as they move from university into employment or further study. Having worked with students at different stages of their academic and professional development, I can help you present your education, experience, skills, and achievements clearly and effectively through a strong, professional CV.

About the lesson

I provide personalised dissertation support and professional CV guidance for undergraduate and postgraduate students, drawing on more than 15 years of university teaching, research, and student mentoring experience.

For dissertations, I support students throughout the research process, from developing a clear and manageable research question to choosing an appropriate methodology, structuring the dissertation, analysing and interpreting results, and improving academic writing. I can also provide guidance on literature reviews, quantitative and qualitative research methods, econometrics, statistics, data analysis, referencing, and preparing for dissertation meetings or presentations.

My approach is supportive and developmental: rather than simply telling students what to do, I help them understand the research process, strengthen their critical thinking, and develop the confidence to produce high-quality independent academic work.

I also provide personalised CV support for students, graduates, and professionals. This includes reviewing and improving CV structure, presentation, wording, and content; highlighting academic and professional achievements effectively; and tailoring CVs to particular jobs, internships, graduate schemes, postgraduate programmes, or other opportunities.

Every session is tailored to your individual goals, background, and stage of study or career. Whether you are beginning a dissertation, struggling with a particular research challenge, or looking to create a stronger and more professional CV, I will provide clear, constructive, and practical guidance.
