About Kat
WELCOME TO WRITING WORKSHOPS WITH KAT
My name is KAT PATRICE. I am a College Reading and Learning Association certified Level 2 (Advanced) writing tutor with over 5 years of experience tutoring high school and college students with essay writing, technical writing, science writing, lab reports, resumes, and many other writing assignments. My mission as a writing tutor is to go beyond the requirements of a specific assignment and give students the tools necessary to tackle writing at any time. My tutees leave every session feeling more comfortable with writing as a whole!
EXPERIENCE:
Cooperative Learning Center, CSUMB
This is where I received all of my formal tutoring training, experience, and credentials. The Cooperative Learning Center (CLC) is a CRLA certified tutoring service offered at CSUMB. As a writing tutor for the CLC, I took 1-on-1 appointments to help college students with writing assignments for many different courses. I also helped ESL students strengthen their English writing skills.

I like for students to give me a brief introduction to their assignement or run through the rubric with me. Based on where they are with the assignment, I might start from the beginning and run through the best way to structure the writing and generate ideas, or I might edit a final copy and give tips for grammar, sentence structure, and formatting.
I work with high school and college students.
Shop around! No tutor is the same. My best advice would be to find a tutor who wants to make you a better writer as a whole, not just focus on one writing assignment.

Prices start at $40/hr for high school students and $30/hr for college students, but I like to lower prices for students that make regular weekly or bi-weekly appointments.
