About Greg

I have 20 years teaching experience ranging from College and University violin students to beginners. Lessons are customized and tailored to the individual needs/goals of each student. For the more intermediate and advanced, lessons comprise a teaching philosophy from the principles of Jascha Heifetz to those of Ivan Galamian based on 25 years as a soloist on stages around the globe. For young students, the materials of Shirley Givens can be great starting point.

With any student, it is about the challenge of developing an enjoyable environment to grow. There is always an emphasis on building solid fundamentals of playing in tune and playing rhythmically. After that it is about learning to speak through the bow and incorporating note reading, music theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and more. Looking forward to connecting!

My principle teachers were Kevin Kiely (Ireland), Marat Bisengaliev (UK), Sally Thomas and the late Erick Friedman (US) and I have a teaching philosophy based on 25 years as a soloist on stages around the globe and also from the teaching principles of Jascha Heifetz to those of Ivan Galamian. Lessons are tailored depending on the needs of each student’s individuality.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in International Commerce and Spanish literature from University College Dublin and my Masters in Music from the American College Dublin in conjunction with performance diplomas in music from both the Guildhall School of Music in London and Mannes College of Music in New York City.
