About Alexis

My name is Alexis and I teach Elementary Band and Strings in Northern Virginia. I have experience teaching students from all ages K-12, in all instruments from Flute to Trombone to Percussion.

I have been playing music, singing, and engaging in music since I was in Elementary School. I started giving private lessons when I was in High School and then continued when I was getting my degree in Music Education. Now I teach music and give lessons after school!!!

I received my Bachelors degree in Music Education from James Madison University. I currently teach Elementary Instrumental Music (Band and Strings) in Northern Virginia. In addition to teaching during the day, I give lessons, and work with Middle School and High School Students.

About the lesson

When I start with a new student I start by getting to know them (what are their goals for lessons, what do they want to work on, etc.) and I also spend time playing with them to get them comfortable playing for me. After the first lesson, I'll compile materials, songs, and other music to help reach their goals and make improvements. As lessons continue the materials and music will change based on students progress!!!

I have worked with students of all ages and instruments, rfom Ukulele to Flute to Trombone. I have a wide array of experience teaching instrumental music.

Some of my best events come from my students performances. When they get up in front of their family and peers and show everything they've learned. It is truly the best experience for me and my students.

Details

My going rate is flexible and depends on the amount of time the lesson is. For example, a 30 minute lessons can be $10-15, versus an hour lesson which would be $20-30.
