About Rob
I have managed tennis facilities & programs for many years and am currently the manager of The Racket Club of Crystal Lake Park District. Our experienced staff of instructors features a diverse array of personality types so that we can always find just the right fit for our students. Beginners can learn to play quickly and efficiently, while more advanced players may refine specific aspects of their games.
I discovered a real passion for tennis as a young player and found myself lucky enough to parlay that into a professional career. While working in facility management, there was a need for instructional staff and I figured, "why not give it a shot myself?" Working with students is fun, productive, and provides a great way to get to know my clientele.
I played varsity tennis in high school, studied Sport Management at University of Illinois, have managed tennis programs, staff, and facilities since 2007, taught numerous group and private lessons along the way, and served as varsity men's & women's tennis coach at McHenry County College.

Once a student expresses interest, we will gather information regarding interests, experience, schedule availability, etc. Any questions the student may have are answered accordingly. Then, options regarding lesson type (private vs group), instructor preference, schedule, and so on are presented so that the student may decide on the best course of action.
I have taught primarily beginning and intermediate level players of all ages.
Ask the teacher to provide some real specifics during the Q & A process in order to get to know their true skillset. Gauge the teacher's communication skills in addition to their technical expertise.
During the COVID situation, we have had to find new and innovative ways of reaching students. With so many of our students dealing with personal schedule changes, I decided to offer a Thursday afternoon program called "Tennis School" that provides kids with a means to stay active during home school. We ended up drawing almost 20 kids to the program!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should have an idea going in of what it is that interests them in tennis, how they'd like to apply what they learn, and their estimated timetable of progress.
