About the lesson

Once initial contact has been made & lessons are setup, ordinarily our first lesson will consist of an introduction, a few basic exercises and a tremendous amount of observation on my part. This first lesson will allow me to witness the student's behavior, in order to help identify the best methods to proceed with the remaining lessons. It also let's me see how the student interacts with those around them, such as parents or siblings, and how to use the student's environment to work through the lesson. After I have a better understanding of the students abilities & personality, the remaining lessons will be curtailed to the student's learning styles, but usually lessons will start out with some type of warm up, then building &/or breakdown exercises, challenge exercise to take steps forwards and finally we will end with some kind of warm down activity. Once the lesson is over & while I am packing up to leave, I like to spend this time talking with parents/guardians to fill them in on progress, give them an opportunity to ask questions and lastly In confirm our next appointment, if there is one. Please keep in mind while there is an overall outline for lessons, activities can change at any moment depending on the student, the environment and, occasionally, me! We work hard, but we remember to have fun!
