About Charles
Basics and fundimentals of swimming:
1. Arm to leg coordination
2. Proper breathing techniques
3. Consistent strokes (legs and arms)
4. Treading water properly (NO, DOGGIE PADDLE IS NOT TREADING)
5. Streamline straight technique
6. Paced swimming to safety
TYPES OF SWIMMERS AND LEVELS:
Level One Swimmer:
This type of swimmer is scared of the water and knows absolutely nothing of the fundimentals nor the basics of swimming properly and should be watched AT ALL TIMES!!!
Level Two Swimmer:
This type of swimmer has absolutely no problem getting into the water but is more prone to hold on to the wall alot. He/she likes swimming but does so near walls or ladders near the side in fear of going under water.
Alot of "Level 2" swimmers are scared to put their head under water and very nervous when taken away from the sides of the pool and may begin to panic.
Level Three Swimmers:
*Base swimmer*
This is the most common type of swimmer. This swimmer has no problem letting go of the sides and already has a idea of how to move through the water. These types of swimmers are usually eager to learn and easy to teach. They usually only need to master fundimentals. DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TREAD.
Level 4 Elite Swimmers:
*Preferred Base Swimmer*
This type of swimmer is pretty well at basic swimming but mainly in free style (may know a bit of breast stroke). These types of swimmers usually only need a good coach that can teach them how to perfect their stroke and how to properly master their breathing.
KNOWS HOW TO TREAD.....SOMEWHAT (Needs work)
Level 5 Elite Swimmer:
This type of swimmer is Very Well at swimming but lacks the ability to maintain the strength to swim long distances (possible drowning hazard). Although this level of swimmer is able to swim really well, if he/she gets tired and is unable to conjure the strength to swim any further, he/she mite very well start to panic and be unable to tread due to fatigue.
!!! NEEDS STRENGTHENING AND CONDITIONING !!!
TIME AND PATIENCE:
For Level One Swimmers:
For level one swimmers, it usually takes at least 3-4 months, 2-3 (consistent) classes a week to become a *Base Swimmer* and up to 6-7 months, 2-3 (consistent) classes a week to become a *Preferred Base Swimmer*
For Level Two Swimmers:
For level two swimmers it usually takes 2-3 months, 2-3 classes a week to become a *base swimmer* and approximately 5-6 months to become a *Preferred Base Swimmer*.
For Level Three Base Swimmers:
For level three swimmers, it is fairly easy to get them to a "Preferred Base" level as long as the classes (2-3) are consistent. This usually only takes up to 2-3 months.
For Level Four Preferred Base Swimmers:
For level three swimmers, it would take no more then a strong 1-2 months to get them to a point of level 5 Elite. Mostly strengthening and conditioning are needed.
For Level Five Elite Swimmer:
For this type of Swimmer, there is a mandatory strengthening and conditioning course as well as breathing and "stroke to breath" technique course. Guaranteed to have you "Swim Meet Ready"!
I enjoy the simple pleasures of watching the process of learning and execution of my teachings. There's no doubt in my mind that I could teach anyone how to swim at a proper elite level. I make sure that my classes are always fun and always effective no matter what the age.
Ive been an instructor and assistant coach for 7years in the swimming field and runner/ass. coach for the womans track team.
