About Amanda
I work with special education students every day. I teach media literacy and reading to high schoolers in Gwinnett. I am the team lead for all for all of 12th grade language arts at my school. I am extremely compassionate as I believe that special needs kids are blessings in disguise. Even the smallest of accomplishments are HUGE in my opinion.
Seeing these kids improve little by little is such a big deal to me. A small smile, a laugh, even the slightest amount of eye contact makes me believe that what I'm doing is right and that feeling alone gets me through even the most difficult sessions.
I attended Georgia State University where I played Division I softball. We always volunteered for the Special Olympics which lead me to loving children with disabilities. It brought me so much joy just seeing them smile after learning how to do a simple task. I decided I wanted to bring that same joy to the children and their parents through education.
I have a bachelors degree in Human Learning and Development with concentrations in educational psychology and counseling. I have a masters degree in Teaching: Special Education.
I have been teaching for 5 years and have worked with all ages from Elementary to High School. I am currently teaching Interrelated Resource Media Literacy to high school seniors. I am also the 12th grade content team lead for my school meaning I am the head of the language arts department.

I think students learn best when they can relate to the content. My first session will be all about getting to know your student with questionnaires, surveys, and self assessments. From there, I will form every lesson into an interactive, engaging session with elements of the students entrance.

Details
My base price is $25 an hour for the first 2 sessions. It will then raise to $35 once we are deep diving into content.
