About
I am attempting to build an educational model that utilizes all the resources of the individual to overcome learning impediments and achieve definite standards of improvement. This model is not restrictive but rather seeks solutions in the relationships between all the parts of the student and the learning objective.
Helping people probe the many facets of their abilities and understanding is important to me.
I began teaching in non-medical fields like ESL, but when I pursued music, I sought to emulate past instructors, such as my mother and many music teachers, while adapting their techniques to my own learning abilities.
I was raised in a musical family, my mother working as a piano teacher and church organist and my sister singing in numerous shows as a youth. Since discovering my own musical inclinations I have sought to develop them with several years of classes at local community colleges. I am hoping to further enhance them by attending graduate school.

I have tried teaching music to children, the homeless, and the elderly, but much of my experience has been formed from working with other musicians in ensembles and duets.
It is important to adjust our expectations to our context, so that we can make reasonable commitments.
Recently singing a small character role in a local production of Rigoletto was an experience I enjoyed immensely.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should be mindful of what they want from their study of music. Music is not always what it appears to be, and a deeper understanding of the roles of intention and satisfaction will go a long way towards squaring students' actions to their reality.
