About Chris

Hi, my name is Chris Cuomo. I am a Berklee College of Music graduate and have worked in the music/recording industry for the last 15 years. I've lived in Los Angeles for the last decade, but am in Massachusetts for the next six months or so.

I'm looking to help up and coming songwriters, producers, hobbyists, and anyone else interested in recording music to better understand the tools and means neccesary to convey what they hear in their head into a full musical production.

I was one of those kids who was saved by music. It was an escape from reality for me, it was an outlet (creatively and emotionally), it was all I was interested in for a long time.

I love turning the ideas people have, whether it be lyrics on a page or just a simple chord progression, into a song that people can connect with.

This is my first time teaching in a formal situation like this. However being in a studio environment and working with artists for over a decade is a teaching experience in its own right.

I'm a Berklee graduate (dual major of Business and Production/Engineering, with a principal instrument of guitar).

I was the studio assistant for producer John Hill (2015 nominee for Producer of the Year by the Grammy's) for over a year.

I've written music for TV and film, toured the country several times, played all around Los Angeles over the last decade in numerous bands, have a solo act, have produced and mixed for other artists, etc, etc, etc ...

About the lesson

First, I enjoy having a conversation about what drove them to want to learn how to create music. Then I get a sense of their particular style and what tools they'll need in order to translate their ideas into something tangible.

Then the fun process of turning nothing into something can begin.

Details

I charge $50 per hour. Typically one lesson is one hour. I don't mind a little overage on the time though if we're in a groove.
