About Lisa
I have been singing professionally for 22 years. I am veteran of 6 Broadway shows and have sung in concerts and cabarets in NYC and at performing arts centers across the country. In addition to performing, I have been teaching voice and giving masterclasses for the past 12 years. I have been a guest speaker at Brigham Young University, The Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, Philadelphia School of the Arts, and Boston Conservatory. I have also taught master classes in NYC for companies, such as NY Offstage, Camp Broadway, Jeff Alexander Productions, and Broadway Classroom. I love teaching and want to pass on what I've learned from past teachers and from my years of experience as a performer. I teach private lessons at my home in Secaucus, NJ and also at a studio in New York City. I teach both vocal technique and vocal coaching. Beginning with the basics of breath control and vowel placement, my goal is to help students sing with their "natural voice". I also believe the acting of the song is just as important as the singing of it, maybe even more. I try to help my students connect to the material to truly tell a story, while maintaining proper vocal technique. Whether you are auditioning for your school play or a Broadway show, the key to success is preparation. My goal is to help you take the skills you learn in your lessons and apply them to your real world auditions and performances. I teach any age or skill level. Please email or call to set up an appointment.
I have a BFA in Musical Theater from the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and continued my study of voice and acting with various teachers in NYC over the years.

When I begin working with a new student, I first ask them about their singing experience and what their goals are. Then, based on that discussion, we begin with vocal warm ups and exercises to suit the studets individual needs. From there, we will either work on material the student already knows or I will find songs I think would be good for the student.

Lisa is an extremely talented teacher with an impressive, extensive resume to back up her instruction. She is down-to-earth, funny, and encouraging while maintaining high expectations and ensuring results week-to-week or in stand alone coachings. Her ability to explain concepts and technical processes for both voice and acting is outstanding. I highly recommend Lisa Howard!
Lisa is a master teacher. Her understanding and knowledge of the voice is incredible. Plus, she makes lessons fun and accessible. Every singer should have a lesson with her, if they can get a slot.
