About Holly

20 years of singing experience: I specialize in Jazz, R&B/Soul and Pop

B.A. Music / Vocal Emphasis from NAU, 2010

8+ years of receiving private lessons in opera, jazz and pop.

13+ years choral participation

Full-time performing musician for 5 years, over 1200 gigs in that time period so far. Mostly local, monthly out-of-state performances.

4+ years of giving private voice lessons

I have a lot of tools and techniques to offer, but I thrive on giving singers an overview of what they need to get started in the industry. I customize my teaching towards that end: building repertoire, networking, performing, expression, media/marketing, etc.. I also love working with current musicians who seek a 'tune up.'

Niché skill set is vocal looping: anyone with a loop station: I'm your person. (Especially a BOSS RC 505)

Singing is an amazing adventure, both physically and psychologically. Learning the details about voice has changed my life: I'm thrilled to share anything I can to pay it forward.

A friend was leaving his voice studio in 2013 and asked if I was interested in teaching voice lessons. I had a lot of music background but felt a bit rusty, so I invested in my own vocal coach to make sure I was doing right by prospective students (GREAT investment).

I've given over 1000 performances, 900 of those in the past 4 years.

About the lesson

1. Gather background, experience, goals

2. Start with vocal exercises to review general technique and diagnose any obvious vocal challenges.

3. Have the student perform a song selection to hone in on 1-2 new vocal concepts to develop within the song.

Ages between 7 - 50 so far, beginners, intermediate, singing professionals, vocal injuries.

Favorite students = Jazz or R&B, looping enthusiasts also a favorite.

Be sure you are invested in doing the work: A teacher's job is to give you seeds, but we're not actually digging the soil and watering your plants.

To make the money work for you, it's suggested to keep some kind of practice/work ethic towards applying tools from lessons.
