About Saki
Hello singers! I am a formal adjunct faculty at NYU Steinhardt Vocal Performance program. At NYU, I taught private voice lessons to NYU students for 2 years, from beginner to advanced singers. My goal is to find your "authentic" voice so that you can sing in a healthy and sustainable way across the genres. (classical, music theater, pop/rock, R&B/soul, country, etc.) I have developed a style of teaching that is efficient and flexible. I will cater my lessons to your needs!
I also studied voice science (vocology) through the NYU Voice Center under the SLPs and Laryngologists, so I understand how the vocal system works. I will provide explanations that make sense using anatomy and physiology!
My teaching style is “taller-made” for each student and his/her development. Since singing is a combination of technique and expression, and is very physical and emotional, I aim to help each of my students gain that balance of emotionality with technique. In my lessons, I specifically focus on:
*Unlocking voice and least amount of work to release “air flow”
*Basic fundamentals (breath energy, resonance, and vault/space)
*Physicality and acoustics (source, filter, balance, alignment, efficient placement)
*Musicianship (accuracy, phrasing, reading scores) *Increase the range
*Provide a toolbox to adjust their instrument
*Making the voice flexible to let dimensions and colors come out
*Truthful communication as a storyteller
*Joy of singing!
I am passionate about teaching and sharing what I have learned as an actor and singer! I want to let you make a new discovery about your voice and open up the world of possibility for the voice. Singing is an incredible way to grow confidence and positive even if it's merely a hobby or extra curricular activity!
We are all inspired by some singers or performers, but I will make sure that I am helping find your authentic voice, so that you can take your authentic voice to whatever kind of music you love. (Someday, somebody will say, “I want to sing like you!”) My students can reach out to me anytime, and what they think is best for them is most important to me!
