About Jane

At Star Singers Studio, we teach all genres of music, whether it be pop, jazz, country, cabaret, folk, musical theater, or rap! Jane Vandiver, owner and premier vocal coach, has been a professioal vocalist for 45 years, and has taught vocal lessons for 25 years. She is a teacher that does, giving her the knowledge of what truly works in the music business! Her vocal and performance skills have been proven for many years, and she can truly coach you on what you need to know to work in this business! Jane has also developed her own training/vocal warm-up CD, called "Body Singing with Style!" She not only teaches great techniques, but brings out your strengths to help you develop your own style! She has sung all over the world with name bands and orchestras, but also has a background in musical theater. Jane also produces in the recording studio, both artistically and vocally. Star Singers Studio also offers expert instructors in songwriting. Learn the ins and out of being a professional vocalist! Also, novices are welcome. EVERYONE should enjoy music!

Since singing is so personal, since we "wear" our intstrument, I love seeing what it does to a students self-esteem, confidence and seeing them reach their dream!

I started teaching for Mars Music, The Jewish Community Center, Beinhorn Vocal Studio, and Fort Bend Music Center. I have had my own studio for seventeen years. I love teaching almost as much as performing!

I have studied voice with some of the best instructors in the business over many many years. Being a voice major, also studying musical theater and the music business, makes me versatile, and well rounded. I have performed continuously for 45 years all over the world with famous bands and orchestras up to 40 pieces! My experience is vast, and I am ready to pass it on to you!

About the lesson

At your fist session, we will discuss your goals, both short and long term. I will listen to you sing, and access what I think you need to work on. We will begin with good basic voice production, so to lay down a good foundatioin, then proceed from there. We can study all the musicalities based on your individual needs, that includes ear training, reading music, diction, phrasing, learning the licks and tricks of the trade, repertoire, audience rapport, performance, putting a show together, band singing, theater auditioning, mic technique and more!

I work with professionals in the business, hobbyist and enthusiast of all ages! It's never too early or too late to start!

Make sure that you connect and can relate with the instructor personally. Respect needs to go both ways. Your talent and vision for your career needs to be capatible with what the teacher has to offer. Music is a very personal thing to share!

We do showcases often with professional musicians. We also have Singers Night every month that is more casual with professional musicians as well. You get to perform for your peers, friends and family on a regualar basis!

Jane's enthusiasm is contagious, her encouragement is inspiring, and she has a wonderful balance of playfulness and seriousness. A special feature of Jane's services is that she organizes frequent Singers Nights home concerts where her students get to sing with a professional pianist. Individual lessons by the hour are offered.

Group classes are priced differently considering the hours of the class and the teacher that is conductig. I have instructors that come from all over the country to teach different class subjects.

All prices are VERY reasonable. I like the student to be able to take part in individual and group classes, plus ecording sessions, so keep the pricing mid-range.
