About Dylan

I am currently a high school student about to enter my senior year, with plans to go into Music Education in college. I've been part of an advanced ensemble for 3 years and have taken lessons of my own. I've been involved with various vocal groups that include the genres of jazz, world music, classical, as well as acapella, having written some arrangements that have been performed. I've also helped teach a student led group, as well as the men's tenor section for my choir. My most noteworthy feat was being an All-State qualifying musician in Illinois for the IMEA All-State concert, of which only a handful of students out of all qualifying high schools are chosen.

I enjoy having the ability to help people grow as students and expand upon the potential they have. I also enjoy being able to form bonds with people I would not normally meet.

About the lesson

Before doing anything, it's important to build a good sense of trust and connection first to have good basis for working. I would first get to know them a bit, ask them about their interests in music, as well as other hobbies. Making this experience about them and helping them along their journey is vital. Then, we would get into technical stuff, do some vocal exercises, and see what they are looking to improve on or learn.

Look for a teacher who has a deep understanding about music, past just singing the notes on the page. Having a mental and spiritual understanding about this concept is just as important as the physical parts of music and knowing the specifics with the vocal chords and the diaphragm and reading sheet music. Music is about expression and vulnerability and bring creative in your own way. Someone who understands this and is willing to help you find your own unique sound is worth looking into.

Typically $10 for an hour long lesson. I onyl accept online payments and no checks of any sort. I also have a 24-hour rescheduling fee where I must be alerted about rescheduling 24 hours prior or there has to be a compensation fee.
