About Katrina

Katrina Walker is a sewing industry professional known for her expertise in construction techniques, textiles, machine embroidery, and Modern American Pojagi piecework. Her work is regularly featured in sewing magazines including Threads, Creative Machine Embroidery, SewStylish, Stitch, SewNews, and SewItAll. She is a popular instructor both at national sewing shows and online, where her classes for Bluprint (Craftsy), Taunton Workshops, BurdaStyle, and Craft Daily are enjoyed by thousands of students worldwide. She is a national educator for Husqvarna Viking and PFAFF sewing machines, a PFAFF Brand Ambassador, and a Sulky Sewcialite. I am a nationally recognized sewing educator with thousands of students worldwide. I teach both online and at guilds and sewing industry shows.

About the lesson

I prefer to have an informal interview first to determine the student's interests and what they want to accomplish. We can build their lesson plan(s) from there. My focus is on fashion sewing, so if they are looking to learn how to quilt, for example, they may want a different instructor.

I have worked with students from 9 to 90+, of all skill levels, from countries around the world. The most important element is a willingness and ability to learn.

Talk with them first to be sure that your goals and personalities are a good fit. Sewing is a very personal skill. It helps if your learning style and their teaching style are compatible.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. What is your ultimate goal for sewing? What do you REALLY want to make? You can always change your mind but it helps to have an idea of where you want to go.

2. How much time and effort are you willing to put into learning to sew?

3. Are you willing or able to make a significant investment into sewing equipment and materials? If not, how do you plan to get access to these things?
