About Arthlene

I enjoy sewing and fashion designing. I love to be able to take an idea in my head, put it on paper and then get the fabric and supplies needs to finish the project. I also love to teach and share my knowledge with others and encourage them to reach for their dreams.)

Students achieve their goals. (Our training include a full sewing course with basic fashion design classes) we work as a group but one on one session are also available. I’ll work with them to the end until they leave every thing they need to know to be successful in the completion of the course.

I have been sewing for over 30 years but became a professional fashion designer in 2008 and taught my first student in ohio 2010. I also taught my first course in Tucker Ga in 2014 and just recently opens our new center.

I have received several awarded for my work as top designer, best in retail business, fashion designer of the year and many more

Our classes are not only setup to teach sewing but we also teach basic fashion design, alterations, empowering session and business plan and development

I was contacted by a university student who wanted to do his internship with me. The semester was very successful and the university even thanks. Lots of people were asking me to teach them so I decided to open a school.

He now has his own fashion business and several collections.

One of my other students is now a designer in New York City and also have her own collection she launce in Paris Fashion Week at my fashion show.

I've been sewing for 30 years, I’ve won many professional and recognizable Awards for my work. I’ve worked with many students, also taught several classes at my city libraries etc.

I also have a degree in Business administration.

About the lesson

Course objection.

To provide students with the knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lecturers, sewing techniques and proper stitching, draping, basic pattern making, drawing, business planning, and more.

This practical sewing course will help you become familiar with the basics of machine sewing, help you build your confidence in working with a professional machine and develop a range of related sewing skills.

Students can apply the knowledge gained at the workshop anywhere in the world and in the pursuit of varied goals, from starting their own sewing and fashion business, sewing and designing their own clothes or gaining employment with other companies

Upon completion of 101 & 102, students will have the opportunity to participate in LEWTE yearly fashion show.

Courses include:

Looking at different needles and threads suitable for fabric types

Standard stitches

Identifying various types of fabric and sewing supplies and their uses.

Seaming curved edges

Straight edges and gathered edges together

Various seam types

Taking body measurement

Topstitching

Trimming work and pressing

Hand and machine sewing operation

Cut and sew several projects

1. Sewing 101: To provide students with knowledge and skills through practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations, and examples. This practical sewing and fashion course will help you become familiar with the basics principles of operating a sewing machine. It will help build your confidence at working with the sewing machine and develop a range of related sewing skills which can prepare them to use the skills they have learned towards a sewing career, work at a sewing workshop, start their own business, or for their personal uses.

2. Sewing 102: Advanced courses will explain how to pick, understand and modify paper patterns and the proper process in the construction and assembling of the sample garments.; how to select fabrics, sewing supplies, learn basic sewing techniques, various stitching styles, and seams. Coursework will also include basic draping, how to attach interfacings and interlinings; sew darts, pleats, and gathers; create several styles of necklines, collars, waistlines, sleeves, and cuffs; hem and fastenings. Stitching both by hand and machine will be taught in class. Hands-on practice is an integral part of sewing classes. Students will also be taught basic drawing of croquis and fashion sewing, limited basic home decoration projects. Included in our course are step-by-step instructions for basic projects like pillows, tablecloths, skirts, shirts which will allow students to apply the knowledge gained in class. Students will have the ability to create their own designs by combining, adjusting and redesigning commercial patterns. Students will have to successfully complete practical exercises and an integrated project to receive their certificate of completion. The main objective of this course is learning and applying what you have learned. Applying or combining their own personal styles or preference.

I’ve worked with students with no experience and some with minimal and advance experience.

Pay close attention to the course description they are offering, their experience and referral.

My most recent events was a summer class at the Fayette County library. Students learned how to make a skater skirt and t-shirt. We were recognized in the newspaper.

I've also worked with middle and high school students in Ohio, Los Angeles, GA.
