About Steve

Hi! I'm Steve Hewell, a black belt Self-Defense Instructor and Certified Personal Fitness Trainer. My background includes the U.S. Army, Choi Kwon Do, Sambo, and Brazilian Jujitsu.

I teach a reality-based system for women and men that fully prepares you for real types of conflict and confrontations. The techniques involved are fun to learn, easy to use and highly effective even against much larger attackers. The techniques covered include; basic blocking, striking and kicking, effective use of elbows and knees, and simple takedowns; defense against and negation of common shoves, grabs, holds, chokes, tackles and front and rear bearhugs; how to take control and escape from vulnerable ground positions. In addition, we’ll use the drills and conditioning methods used by martial artists to improve aerobic conditioning, strength and stamina, mental and physical toughness, and the confidence to handle yourself in any type of conflict and confrontation! As a CFT, I design and implement a range of resistance and bodyweight workouts for different levels of fitness and skill, and monitor your progress and adapt your program as needed. I’ll explain how to perform various exercises and routines to minimize injuries and maximize your overall endurance, strength, and power, and carefully monitor you during exercises to ensure safe, correct techniques and form to obtain the greatest benefits from your personalized, goal-oriented fitness program!

This is where I can do some good for others, by giving them the training and techniques they need to feel safer and more confident in their ability to handle what comes their way, a confidence that can last a lifetime!

Self defense lessons offered by Steve are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Atlanta. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
