About Jake

Jake offers saxophone lessons for students of all ages and abilities (beginner to advanced.) Jake also offers lessons in music theory, learning music by ear, reading and writing music notation, playing jazz and improvising.

Jake tailors lessons to the specific needs and interests of each student. He guides the student as they progress along their musical journey, providing mentorship, expertise, inspiration, encouragement, and a fun and engaging learning environment.

Jake draws from his extensive experience as a professional musician performing in a variety of genres, including classical, jazz, Latin jazz, blues, and various popular styles. Jake studied with world-renowned saxophonist and educator Dr. Timothy McAllister at The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, earning a B.M. in Saxophone Performance and a minor in Jazz Studies in 2005.

Lessons with Jake cover many aspects of musicianship, including tone quality, technique, musicality and expression, rhythm, reading music, cultivating helpful mindsets and practice techniques, ear training, playing by ear, music theory, and (optionally) jazz and improvisation.

Jake studied with world-renowned saxophonist and educator Dr. Timothy McAllister at The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, earning a B.M. in Saxophone Performance and a minor in Jazz Studies in 2005.
