About Phillip

Well I have been playing saxophone for 32 years ..I also have lot of professional experience as I’ve performed in 28 countries as a touring musicians ...I’ve also been a guest in residence at Utah State , Cal ST LA, Davidson College and Elon University...I love taking the knowledge and experience that I’ve garnered and putting it into a private setting to hopefully pass on to a student

my professor in college made me teach a kid in the area to see if I could accept the challenge lol ..I guess early on he saw something in me that he thought would go over well with students ..Ever since then , I developed more of a passion for teaching and it became an extension of me ....

Well I went to school for Music to further broaden my direction as a musician ..But I feel that my professional experience is my most valuable asset as I feel those experiences are the best teacher ...Because it was there that I became groomed and polished as a musician

About the lesson

Well I like to see where they’re at skill level wise and then further work on whatever is next in that student in their development..And of course that varies from student to student ...I try my best to help them maximize what needs to be improved upon .....

I’ve taught kids as young as eight and grown adults ranging from intermediate to advanced..

I feel that if they want to maximize their abilities and want to get all that they desire out of being better on the saxophone , I know that I could motivate and encourage them while making it fun at the same time ...I understand that the reason that we play is because it’s FUN ...That’s my number one reason and that can never be emphasized enough ...But I’ll also challenge them as well without being overbearing..

I like seeing some of the livestream performances as that’s the norm at the moment

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
As a saxophonist I would suggest equipment from mouthpieces to reeds ,books if their beginners ..Also what their goals are that they’d like to attain on the saxophone if they’re more advanced .....
